There's been a shift in consciousness that those who are aware have felt. More plant-based eateries are opening, and Miami is home to the first of its kind- Seed Food and Wine Festival.
Sabra Seligman is one of those pioneers who has placed the building blocks on the foundation of a healthy Miami. She opened Manna Life Food about six months ago with a goal to educate people how to eat the colors of the rainbow. Her background spans 16 years where she opened and developed wellness centers and spas most recently the W in Barcelona before settling in Miami.
Manna, she said is an extension of her vision of a wellness center. Here she introduces people to super foods, and the wooden back wall of the restaurant is riddled with literature and information on plants and herbal diets. Some of those books, written by her author friends who have given community talks at her location. She's also open to lending the space for events and seminars and currently the works to start free programming and activations around plant-driven diets and lifestyles.
When my fiancé Melani and I stopped by the doors were open giving the place and inviting energy. Located in the historic Alfred I. DuPont Building, the floors are original to construction and throughout the restaurant are various posters with educational information on healing foods. At the back, entrance is an area resembling a living room. The living meant to happen in your body after you eat there as well as your mind.
Seligman who has an intense energy and electric smile is passionate about her place. The Colombian native's presence is magnetic, and she has an ability to school you on holistic practices and food.
We were quickly served and then she walked us over to the fridge to pick juices. She instructed us to go for the color that called us the most as this is probably our bodies asking us to feed it missing nutrients.
We were offered the Southwestern 3 Bean Bowl, Veggie Pesto and Avocado Superfood Arepa, and the Moroccan Lentil Soup of the day. We washed our meal down with the Reviver and Sun Shining juices.
By far this has been one of the most exquisite vegan meals I've ever tasted. The flavors all married blissfully into one and the warm hospitality was the cherry on top.
We even took home a pack of the arepas for about $17 in hopes to recreate the delectable recipes we savored.
Manna Life Food is not only serving vibrant dishes but a warm atmosphere that makes you feel like you're part of the family. There's soul in the food and the hands that make it encompassing a grounding experience. At Manna it's about going back to the roots of how food should be made, from the earth and birthed by mother nature.
